Whether you’re buying a new mailbox or replacing an old one, it pays to know the options available for you. The most common home mailbox is the metal mailbox. They are quite inexpensive but they are prone to rust. A non-rusting mailbox you will want to own is the vinyl type. It doesn’t fade, chip or crack, however, they a bit more expensive.

Another type that’s gaining popularity is the plastic mailbox. They are rust-proof, weather-proof, lightweight and comes at a very low price. If you worry about your mail being stolen, then you can purchase a security mailbox. It has a locking mechanism that makes it theft-proof. These types are pretty expensive but they do their job well.
